DeSantis’ first veto favored local control; his overruling Key West voters indicates otherwise

DeSantis signed SB 1194 last week, essentially overturning three referendums passed by Key West voters limiting the size of cruise ships and the number of passengers who can visit the city per day. It was a change in outlook for DeSantis, whose first veto in office in 2019 nixed a bill banning local governments from prohibiting the use of single-use plastic straws.
