Broward agrees to give millions more to sheriff for salaries and raises to ‘right this ship’ of troubled 911 call centers

The Broward County Commission authorized an extra $4,033,156 to hike salaries of existing 911 call center workers and raise salaries as a hiring incentive. A Sun Sentinel investigation exposed that the call centers are dealing with a large number of unfilled positions, increasing overtime, and many calls that go unanswered.
