BlackOut aims to engage minority Floridians to use vote-by-mail in sufficient numbers to tip elections to the Democrats. Operation BlackOut described its objective as signing up “40,000 non-traditional, unlikely Black and Brown progressive voters into vote-by-mail.” It will focus on minority and young voters who are registered but don’t actually vote. The organization hopes that could translate into 20,000 to 30,000 votes — enough to potentially make the difference between winning and losing statewide elections.
