Louis Wainwright, retired head of Florida’s prison system, dies at 98

Louie Wainwright, a longtime leader of Florida’s corrections system whose name is on the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Gideon v. Wainwright concerning the rights of defendants, died Thursday in Tallahassee.
